Event Details

On the Fourth Sunday of Lent (March 10) during the 9:30 am Mass, we will include an “Examination of Conscience” followed by a “General Absolution” given by Bishop Peter, as we prepare ourselves for Easter Sunday:

  • Examination of Conscience: We use an examination of conscience to help call to mind our sins and failings during a period of quiet reflection before approaching the priest in confession.
  • General Absolution: Absolution is the remission of sin, or of the punishment due to sin, granted by the Church. Absolution given during Mass is called General Absolution because it is offered to everyone at the same time. Absolution given in the confessional is called Individual Absolution. Both are valid administrations of the Sacrament of Penance within the Catholic Faith Tradition.

Personal confessions are still encouraged and are available by appointment with any of our priests. We strongly encourage anyone who has not participated in the Sacrament of Reconciliation within the past six months to attend this Mass.
