Get Involved

Plenty of ways to share your time and talents!

“It is absolutely clear that God has called you to a free life… use your freedom to serve one another in love; that’s how freedom grows.” (Galatians 5:13)

There are lots of opportunities to get involved with the ministry teams at Saint Matthew. Consider one of these!

Blessed are the poor in spirit
Being there to support families at the death of their loved ones and assist, as appropriate, in the community’s response to their loss.

Building And Property Maintenance

Help keep our church spick and span!
But there’s more to it, because this team ensures the proper maintenance, repair and protection of all the property of Saint Matthew. We also provide both long and short-term plans for property maintenance, repair and improvement.

For those that love to learn and teach
This Team is all about encouraging and nurturing the Christian education of all members of Saint Matthew, including adult education (Sunday morning classes and forums), Bible study; young adult education; confirmation classes and children’s religious classes. If the intellectual side of life is your thing, come and teach us!

Community Life

Calling all social butterflies
If you like to create and enhance social life you’ve found your niche! This team provides venues for interaction, welcomes visitors on Sundays and plans ongoing group opportunities to raise funds for the benefit of the church. If you thing is fun, then this is your thing!

Helping to manage church money
Calling all number crunchers! This team creates the annual church budget for Parish Council approval and monitors income and expenditures. They also advise Parish Council on the purchase, encumbrance and disposal of real property. If you have a head for numbers and love wearing pocket protectors, we have just the spot for you!

Mass environment, music, worship
We at Saint Matthew highly value Mass that is celebrated in accordance with the highest quality standards and in accordance with the correct liturgical methods. This is, essentially, the QA Department for worship. These folks assure the liturgies and celebrations are done right and that the church and vestments are properly prepared for seasonal changes of the church (especially during Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter). If you are a perfectionist and you like things done right, welcome to your world!

Outreach and Social Justice

Serving people in need
This group creates and supports ministries that serve our brothers and sisters in need, including, but, not limited to, designated Outreach Ministries of the church and community social justice ministries. If you have a heart for those in need, this is your spot.

Communication and PR

Media, website, social networks
Through a diversity of media, the PR team creates an awareness of Saint Matthew Church on local and national levels and to assure appropriate communication within our community. Thanks for finding our website—you are making us look good!

Seriously, if you know the in’s and out’s of using social media to help us spread the message of Saint Matthew then send us a tweet, message on Facebook, text us, or just give us a call. We’d love to hear from you… especially if you are an influencer with hundreds of thousands of followers on your YouTube channel!

Time, money, talent
The Stewardship team encourages the members of the community to grow as stewards of God’s resources, with a special concern for deepening their financial support, time commitments, and use of God-given talents in the service of the community. Honestly, many of us are not comfortable talking about money in the context of church. It’s such a touchy subject that we gave it a whole page of its very own. Learn more on our Stewardship page.
