We are open for public services and liturgies, and will continue to broadcast the Mass online via Facebook. Stay up to date by visiting our homepage, our Facebook page or joining our email list.
St. Matt’s Youth Group (SMYG) is just what the name suggests – the youth of St. Matt’s! We are a fun, diverse group of people who enjoy getting together on Sundays to help the community, do charity work, and organize activities. Because we are part of St. Matthew Ecumenical Catholic Church, a community in the Ecumenical Catholic Communion, we combine our faith in God with our desire to serve to plan engaging and meaningful ways of giving back to the church while also having fun!
SMYG was first truly recognized as an active youth group in 2005 when we began holding short classes and get togethers in the classrooms after the 10:30am Mass. After this initial success, we went on to plan activities and fundraisers, including pancake breakfasts, car washes, and bake sales. In addition to our service projects, we use some of our funds for social events, such as our annual summer camping trip.
Some of us have grown up together in this church and have watched St. Matt’s grow into the wonderful community it is today. We strive to keep this spirit of togetherness alive through SMYG; after all, we are the church’s future! We encourage all new youth to join us in our activities and be an active part of shaping the next generation of our church. St. Matt’s motto is also our motto: all are welcome!
