We Mourn the Passing of Jim Tuma

September 18, 2020

We are open for public services and liturgies, and will continue to broadcast the Mass online via Facebook. Stay up to date by visiting our homepage, our Facebook page or joining our email list.

Update: Jim Tuma’s memorial will be this Tuesday, November 17, at 2:00 p.m. in the church. A reception will follow.

To our community of Saint Matthew’s, it is with heavy hearts that we come to you with the news of the sudden passing of our beloved James “Jim” Tuma.

Jim was a fixture of our community for more than 20 years, always willing to lend a hand when needed.  He helped decorate the church for every holiday, and he showed up every Sunday to record our Gospel readings and homilies, before uploading them onto the Internet so that we may all enjoy them for many years to come.  And for those of you that did not know, Jim also helped to build the altar “platform” that sits in our church today, which will be a loving reminder of this humble soul.

Besides his many years of service to our community, he also served our country and was a proud military veteran, as well as a loving husband to his beloved wife, Kathryn. He was loved by so many and will be missed by all. We have lost a brother in Christ and a dear friend. Heaven has gained another carpenter who was always volunteering to work in his Lord’s church.

Please keep Kathryn in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time and please pray for Jim’s immortal soul. May God bless and comfort Kathryn and grant eternal rest and peace to His faithful servant, Jim.

May God bless all of us and grant us His graces as we honor Jim Tuma with our love and our prayers.

Bishop Peter and Father Arturo

Our wonderful Jim Tuma, you will be missed dearly.
